Refund & Registration Policy

Registration Policy – General

Registration may be completed online, in person or by phone

  • Students are free to register up to 15 minutes before the start of class in week 3. After that registration is closed for the term.

Introductory Course (Philosophy Works!) only

  • In view of the nominal pricing, there is no refund or transfer of the $15 administrative fee.
  • There is no prerequisite for the Introductory Course.

Withdrawal/refunds Beyond Introductory Course

  • A written request to withdraw which is received before Opening Day at the beginning of each term, entitles the student to a refund less a 20% administrative fee.
  • Refunds are made within 45 days of receipt of the written request; there are no refunds thereafter.
  • Due to the nature of the course, we regret that guests are not permitted.
  • Each registrant is entitled to a receipt.

Tuition Forward  

  • Students, who are unable to complete the course after Week 3, are entitled to a free retake of the whole course during the following term.
  • Notice needs to be given to the School, in writing, no later than the end of the third week of the term in which the student is enrolled and from which that student is requesting the tuition be forwarded.
  • This does not apply to the Introductory Course administrative fee.

Registration Policy Details

Introductory Course

  • A student who misses more than five (5) sessions is not allowed to continue to the next level.
  • A student who completes the Introductory Course, i.e. attended 5 or more classes, needs permission from a tutor to repeat that course.

Courses beyond the Introductory Course

  • There is a prerequisite for all courses except the Introductory Course.
  • A student who misses more than three (3) sessions of a course of study cannot continue to the next level without a tutor’s permission.
  • A student who completes a course of study, i.e. attended 7 or more sessions, needs permission from a tutor to repeat that course.

All Courses

  • The School’s curriculum includes a progression of study from one level to the next.  In order for students to receive the fullest benefits of the School, they need to be prepared for each new level.

Returning Students

  • Returning students are asked to contact the School advising of last tutor and or last course attended.

Visiting Students

  • Students who are currently registered in a Philosophy course and who would like to attend classes during a visit to Toronto are asked to contact the School through their tutor.
  • Students of Practical Philosophy Online are welcome.
  • All courses in Toronto are conducted in English.
